The Campaign to Renew and Restore Christ Church Parish

For 190 years, Christ Church Parish has brought the love of God in Christ Jesus to the people of Bordentown and our surrounding communities.  Our current Church and Parish Hall, built in 1879 and 1931, respectively, have provided a beautiful home for worship, fellowship, outreach, and spiritual care.  Our Rectory, built in 1899, has housed thirteen of our Rectors and their families. Now, to sustain our mission and ministry, and to continue to provide a safe and welcoming place for all, these buildings are in need of restoration and renewal.  To that end, we present the campaign to renew and restore Christ Church Parish with a goal of raising $250,000 to meet the present needs.

What we will accomplish through this Campaign:

Repair and beautify the Nave and Sanctuary.  The plaster on the interior walls of the Church is in dire need of repair and painting. We have received an estimate of at least $100,000 to complete this work, along with the cleaning of the decorative trim.

Repair and beautify the exterior of the Rectory.  Our large, beautiful Rectory is in need of paint and of repairs to the front porch, all of which will increase the safety of the space and make us better neighbors.  The Rectory is used not only as a home for our Rector, but as a reception space and outreach hub, The Rectory needs at least $35,000 of work.

Improve and enhance the Parish Hall. Not only does the parish utilize the facilities in the Parish Hall, but we receive multiple requests from the community to use our kitchen and hall. The kitchen, while continuing to operate, is in need of a commercial dishwasher and a new stove due to safety concerns. During warmer months, it is impractical to rent or host parish activities in the Hall as it is extremely uncomfortable. Parish Hall improvements would total around $40,000.

A new Memorial Garden.  We are charged with the perpetual care of the dead, which is a lovely and needed ministry of our parish.  Our historic Churchyard is a gorgeous space, but it is limited by its size and the availability of plots.  A new Memorial Garden, most likely positioned by the rear of the Sacristy, would provide our parishioners with a burial location for years to come.

And much more!  Depending on the amount we are able to raise, there are many more projects deserving of attention.  Improvements to our bathrooms, the Parish Office, mold remediation in the basement, and more are on the list of things that would strengthen our ministries and bring joy to our people. Please prayerfully consider joining us in our campaign to renew and restore Christ Church Parish!
